What to expect at the AWS Summit Washington, DC: Join theCUBE June 11

Artificial intelligence may be reshaping the private sector, but in the public sphere, modernization still begins with secure infrastructure, evolving data practices and a mission-first mindset. Against this backdrop, Amazon Web Services Inc. is convening leaders, technologists and policymakers to examine how the public sector can adopt next-generation tools, such as generative AI, while maintaining trust, compliance and service continuity across essential institutions.

At this year’s AWS Summit Washington, DC, event, public sector leaders will explore how generative AI and cloud technology help agencies enhance services in education, healthcare and government operations while balancing privacy, compliance and budget constraints. The event arrives at a pivotal moment for agencies working to modernize outdated systems, close workforce gaps and implement AI responsibly, according to John Furrier, co-founder and chief executive officer of theCUBE Research.

“Cybersecurity and sovereign cloud are two main topics front and center, and the business and technical conversations revolve around the new ways generative AI is impacting both cloud value creation and extraction,” he said. “AWS’ three-layer stack is proving to be working, and I expect to see innovations in how data is used for the agents rolling out in all areas.”

Join theCUBE on June 11 for exclusive coverage of the event. Interviews will feature AWS executives, industry leaders and technologists sharing strategies for scaling innovation through cloud-native solutions, secure architecture and explainable AI — designed to meet the evolving needs of government, education and nonprofit agencies. Public sector meets production-grade, generative AI

Compared to last year’s broader emphasis on cloud innovation, this year’s Summit zeroes in on production-grade generative AI, interagency collaboration and operational readiness for government-scale AI deployments.

Generative AI takes center stage with the debut of an interactive AI Hub. In this immersive environment, public sector attendees can explore hands-on demos, workshops and tools built to address agency priorities. From large-scale large language model integration to mission-specific applications in digital services and healthcare, AI is now being measured by operational outcomes that move beyond experimentation.

Security and infrastructure remain core themes, as well. Sessions will span cloud modernization efforts, ransomware resilience and sector-specific applications within GovCloud. AWS also continues to evolve its zero-trust strategy with tools such as Verified Access, which enforces identity-centric application validation and aims to simplify secure access management across complex environments. The approach supports sensitive workloads in both public and regulated sectors, including government and education, where data protection is paramount.

“Zero trust is not an end goal in the sense that it’s not a tool or product which you just buy and implement,” said Madhu Balaj, senior solutions architect at AWS, in an interview with theCUBE. “It’s like a journey … you need to implement those core principles and then implement step by step.”

The company will also spotlight its workforce development efforts at the event, offering labs, certifications and training paths tailored to both technical and non-technical agency staff. These resources aim to bridge the cloud skills gap and prepare teams to work with cloud-native tools and generative AI, supporting scalable, secure deployments across legacy systems.
